Cost-Effective Options
At times when legal services are needed, it may not be the best time for your budget. Most law offices charge by the billable hours they spend working on your case. This can prove to be quite expensive. However, depending on your specific situation, there may be options that can help take some of the bite out of legal expenses.
Mediation
In most simple cases, the courts may send two opposing parties to mediation. The attorney, acting as the mediator, takes a neutral position between both parties to help them resolve an issue. When an agreement is reached through mediation it decreases the time spent in court, thus decreasing related expenses and fees for both parties.
Modest Means Fee Structure
Limited Scope Representation
Attorneys are needed to handle complex legal formalities and follow procedures as dictated by law. However, not every task involved in a particular case requires the time of a licensed attorney. There are several tasks that can be performed by anyone. With that said, if you are willing to do some of the work on your case (i.e. gathering documents, delivering documents, basic calls, finding information, etc.) you can reduce the tasks performed by the attorney, thus reducing your costs.
Flat Fees
Usually, legal tasks are billed at a per-hour rate. However, some legal tasks fall into a category of things that are often repetitive in nature. For that reason, some of these tasks can be completed for a reasonable flat fee.
